Helpful Tips for a Temporary Orders Hearing: #1

A Temporary Orders hearing in your Family Law case is an important event. The rules put in place by the Judge at a Temporary Orders Hearing may become more permanent at a later, Final Hearing. Because a Temporary Orders Hearing is so important I want to prove you with some helpful tips on having a successful hearing-- whether you are represented by an attorney, or not.

Tip #1: Be Prepared

The importance of preparation in a Family Law case cannot be overstated. If you walk into the courtroom without having thought through what evidence you believe is important, and what you want the Judge to know before making his decision, you will be fighting an uphill battle.

Part of preparation is knowing important dates and times; what you want the Judge to order; what you believe is in the best interest of your child; any other information unique to your case.

If you are represented by an attorney insist upon meeting with them at least once, shortly before your hearing. This will help both you and your attorney stay fresh on the important information to be presented at the hearing. Additionally, if you are represented, be sure to provide your attorney with all of the documents you think may be helpful.
